📝 3. Auto-Selection Rules & Behavior
This section covers the specific rules that govern what is selected and how that selection is presented to the user.
These settings allow you to fine-tune the personalization logic of the
JaJuMa Auto Select Options extension to perfectly match your store's strategy and customer expectations.
🔑 3.1 Auto Select First Available Option
This setting defines the fallback behavior for the extension.
It is the lowest priority rule in the auto-selection logic.
- If Yes:
For new visitors, or when no other personalized selection rule applies, the first available option for each attribute will be automatically selected. This ensures that the customer immediately sees a valid, purchasable product variation rather than an unselected state requiring action. - If No:
No fallback selection will be made. The product will load with its options unselected, requiring the customer to make a selection manually.
🌟 3.2 Choose Super Attributes & Super Custom Option Labels
This is a powerful personalization feature that enables global preference memory.
By designating an attribute or custom option label as "Super,"
you instruct the extension to remember a customer's selection for that attribute and
apply it to all other products they view.
For example, if you select color and size as Super Attributes:
- A customer selects 'Large' and 'Blue' on a t-shirt.
- The extension remembers 'Large' as their preferred size and 'Blue' as their preferred color.
- When the customer navigates to a jacket they have never seen before, the extension will automatically pre-select 'Large' and 'Blue' if those options are available.
This creates a highly intuitive experience where the store appears to learn and adapt to the customer's tastes in real-time.
The extension supports auto-selection for the following custom option types:
- Drop-Down
- Radio Buttons
- Checkboxes
- Text Field (remembers input per SKU or Super Label)
- Text Area (remembers input per SKU or Super Label)
🔗 3.3 Update URL After Select Configurable Options
This feature dynamically updates the browser's URL as options are selected.
This is crucial for both user experience and SEO, as it allows customers to bookmark or
share a direct link to a specific, pre-configured product variation.
The choice of format has significant implications for usability and search engine visibility.
| Option | Description | SEO & UX Impact | Best Use Case |
|---|---|---|---|
| No | The URL in the address bar does not change after an option is selected. | Low. URLs are not shareable for specific configurations. Provides no SEO benefit for specific variations. | Not generally recommended. |
| Option IDs | Appends attribute and option IDs to the URL (e.g., ...#132=4&140=16). |
Medium. Allows for sharing and bookmarking specific configurations, but the resulting URL is not human-readable or keyword-rich, which is less effective for SEO. | When programmatic stability and linking via IDs are preferred over user-friendly, keyword-rich URLs. |
| Option Labels | Appends attribute and option labels to the URL (e.g., ...?color=blue&size=large). |
High. Creates clean, readable, and keyword-rich URLs. This format is ideal for SEO and for sharing on social media, as it builds user trust and is easily understood. | Recommended for most stores. This option maximizes both the SEO and user experience benefits of the feature. |
📁 3.4 Apply Auto-Selection On Category Page
This option extends the personalization capabilities beyond the product detail page (PDP) to your category and product listing pages (PLP).
- If Yes:
The same auto-selection logic will be applied to product swatches on category pages. If a customer's preferred color is 'Blue', the blue swatch for products on the category page will be pre-selected. - If No:
Auto-selection will only occur on the product detail page.
Enabling this feature can increase the click-through rate from category pages to product pages by visually confirming to the customer that their preferred option is available.
🗯️ 3.5 Auto Select Tooltip
To maintain transparency with your customers, you can optionally display a tooltip that informs them
when an automatic selection has been made.
This builds trust by explaining why options are already selected.
- Enable Tooltip:
A simple Yes/No toggle to show or hide the tooltip. - Time To Show Tooltip:
Configure how long the tooltip remains visible on the screen, in milliseconds (e.g.,3000for 3 seconds). - Tooltip Content:
Customize the text displayed in the tooltip to match your store's tone and voice. - Show Only One Tooltip:
If multiple options are selected at once (e.g., size and color), this setting prevents overwhelming the user with multiple tooltips. Set toYesto display only a single tooltip for the entire selection event.
