📊 8. Management & Maintenance

While the JaJuMa Ultimate Image Optimizer for Magento 2 is designed for "set it and forget it" automation, it also provides a powerful set of tools for monitoring, management, and maintenance. These tools give you full visibility into the optimization process and help you keep your media storage clean and efficient.

8.1 Monitoring with the Image Optimization Status Grid

This grid is your central dashboard for overseeing all optimization activities. It provides a real-time, comprehensive view of every image the extension has scanned.

Ultimate Image Optimizer - Image Optimization Status Grid

Location: JaJuMa > Ultimate Image Optimizer > Image Optimization Status

The grid displays all images found during the last media scan and includes the following key information:

  • Path & Original Size: The path to the source image and its original file size.
  • Status: The current optimization status: Success, Pending, or Error.
  • Optimized Size & Savings (%): The file size and percentage reduction for both WebP and AVIF versions.
  • High-Res & Responsive Version(s): Indicates which Retina and responsive versions have been created.
  • LQIP: Indicates if LQIP created for original image.
  • Custom Img Path: Indicates if Custom Path created for original image.
  • Custom Img Alt: Indicates if Custom Alt created for original image.
  • Error Message: If an image fails to convert, this column provides details about the failure, which is invaluable for troubleshooting.

8.1.1 Grid Actions

From this screen, you can perform several manual actions:

  • Scan Images: Manually triggers a new scan of your media directories to find new or updated images.
  • Test Optimize Images: Runs a single conversion batch for testing purposes, showing progress in a popup.
  • Mass Actions: Select multiple images using the checkboxes and use the Actions dropdown to Optimize Images or Reset Image Optimization in bulk.
  • Individual Actions: Use the Select link in the Action column for a single image to Convert Now or Reset its optimization status.

8.2 Image Cache & Data Management

This section provides granular control over the extension's generated image caches and rewritten SEO data.

8.2.1 Image Cache Management

Ultimate Image Optimizer - Image Cache Management

Location: JaJuMa > Image Optimization Configuration > Image Cache Management

  • Clear Specific Caches: Buttons are available to clear only WebP, AVIF, High-Resolution, Responsive, or Low-Quality Image Placeholders caches. Use these to regenerate specific image types after changing their quality or dimension settings.
  • Clear All Optimized Images: Removes all generated image versions. Use this after changing a major setting to force a complete regeneration of all images.
  • Clean Unused Product Image Cache:
    • Explanation: A powerful housekeeping tool. This removes Magento's native product image cache directories
(/pub/media/catalog/product/cache/{hashvalue}) for image definitions that are no longer in use in your theme.

💡 Pro Tip: Over time, Magento can accumulate gigabytes of unused image cache files. Running this utility periodically can free up significant disk space.

8.2.2 SEO Data Management

Location: JaJuMa > Image Optimization Configuration > Search Engine Optimization

  • Refresh Image Path/Alt-Text Mapping: These buttons clear the stored data for rewritten filenames and alt-texts, forcing them to be regenerated based on the current patterns you have configured.

8.3 Finding & Removing Unused Product Images

Over time, your server can accumulate orphaned product images that are still in your pub/media folder but are no longer linked to any product in the database. This utility helps you safely identify and remove them.

Ultimate Image Optimizer - Find Unused Product Images

Location: JaJuMa > Ultimate Image Optimizer > Unused Product Images

The process is simple and safe:

  1. Click Find Unused Product Images. The extension scans your media directories and compares the files against your product database.
  2. The unused images are displayed in a grid for your review.
  3. Select the images you are certain are no longer needed and use the Delete Images action. This will permanently remove the original file and all its cached and optimized variants.

⚠️ Warning: This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Always review the images carefully before deleting them to ensure you are not removing an image that might be used in a CMS block, page, or other custom content.
